The Wheatons are infamous among the east coast elite for their lack of impulse control, except for their daughter Clara. She’s the consummate socialite: over-achieving, well-mannered, predictable. But every Wheaton has their weakness. When Clara’s childhood crush invites her to move cross-country, the offer is too much to resist. Unfortunately, it’s also too good to be true.

After a bait-and-switch, Clara finds herself sharing a lease with a charming stranger. Josh might be a bit too perceptive—not to mention handsome—for comfort, but there’s a good chance he and Clara could have survived sharing a summer sublet if she hadn’t looked him up on the Internet...

Once she learns how Josh has made a name for himself, Clara realizes living with him might make her the Wheaton’s most scandalous story yet. His professional prowess inspires her to take tackling the stigma against female desire into her own hands. They may not agree on much, but Josh and Clara both believe women deserve better sex. What they decide to do about it will change both of their lives, and if they’re lucky, they’ll help everyone else get lucky too.

I remember seeing this all over bookstagram, several of my friends said it was such a fun read. I knew I had to pick it up. What I don’t recall remembering was just who our love interest was. It’s not even mentioned in the synopsis. Though if you read between the lines, you could have figured it out. My goodie-two-shoes brain did NOT!

So as I was making my way through this and I got to know our love interest, Josh’s profession in the same manner our main character did, my jaw DROPPED. And I vaguely remember yelling “WHAT?!”

Because, minor spoiler, Josh is a pornstar.

Let me start by saying, I had no issue with this. And this made for a very interesting premise. Clara, another miss goodie-two-shoes, who could barely look at her newly found roommate shirtless, finds herself living with a pornstar.

I understand that this was probably kept out of the summary for shock value. But I can imagine others not being okay with it. Especially as not only is Josh a pornstar but we also explore the stigma that comes with porn and adult films. Which was fun to read about because I have no doubt it’s based on real stories. I loved how we focused on the idea of how women deserve better sex, and that it's not just about pleasing men.

I really did enjoy this! I finished this in a single day, I just didn’t want to put this down. I found Clara to be such a joy to follow, she was relatable to me as a fellow goodie-two-shoes. Her reactions to anything sex related were similar to my own reactions and it was so humorous to see! I definitely had some LOL moments.

And I loved Josh, his constant teasing of Clara but also clearly caring for her wellbeing too. It was so cute and sweet to watch. The sexual tension between them was so hawt to see as well. And any time they let themselves enjoy being together intimately, they always seemed to talk themselves out of it meaning anything. This “it's just sex” vibes made for such a funny miscommunication trope. The drama was ridiculous at times, but I couldn’t help but smile and shake my head with laughter.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I just can see it being potentially problematic not fully being upfront on the premise. But if you’re not opposed to porn or being open to sex, this is such a great read! A fun read, and one I highly recommend!
