Journal Entry | October 08.2022

Hello, fellow book lovers!

I’m trying something new. I don’t know if I’ll keep it up. I’m sort of just testing the waters and seeing how I like this. But after doing my first-ever readathon earlier this year, I realized that I actually really enjoyed doing those weekly check-ins.

If you’re unfamiliar with what I mean, I decided to do weekly reading check-ins to share my progress throughout the readathon. In these posts, I shared what I read, what I’ll be reading next, and just anything else that came to mind when it came to reading. I found these posts helped me stay motivated to keep reading even though I was struggling to get through books at the time.

So, I thought it would be a fun way to incorporate it into my normal blogging life! And what better way to start than after the first week of the month! This being my first weekly reading check-in!

I’m currently planning to do these weekly check-ins on Saturdays. As for what I talk about… I have no idea! I might just talk about random bookish stuff, I'll probably use this as a way to bring up upcoming book exchanges, details on my book club picks, and readathons. We’ll see how I’m feeling! But I’m thinking to start, I might follow a similar pattern to how I did my readathon check-ins.

So….

What did I read this week?

I finished the following books:

Saga, Volume 3 by Brian K. Vaughan

Yeah… not exactly how I thought this first week would go. But I’m still recovering from a very involved September. Work basically killed me. I honestly have slept more than done anything else. But I’m feeling my reading mojo is back! So hopefully next week I’ll have a longer list!

However… I started the following books: In the Shadow of a Queen by Heather B. Moore

The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews

What am I currently reading?

I’m currently actively reading: The Belle of Belgrave Square by Mimi Matthews

I’m honestly super obsessed with this read right now! The Belle of Belgrave Square is a historical romance with a slight hint of Beauty and the Beast vibes, I say slight, because it’s only small minor details that give it that BATB vibe, but for the most part it’s very unique. I actually stayed up until about 3am reading this one last night. Definitely one of those, “just one more chapter” moments. I just couldn’t stop reading. I haven’t pulled one of those in so long! I’m so excited to dive back into this after I finish this journal entry!

What am I reading next?

Of course, once I finish the amazing The Belle of Belgrave Square, I’m hoping to finish books I’ve started but haven’t quite finished yet, those being the following:

In the Shadow of a Queen by Heather B. Moore

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Covet by Tracy Wolff

I also have some book tours coming up! But I think I’ll those for the next journal entry. Until next time!
