Goodbye 2023, Hello 2024!

Hello, beasties! Happy New Year!!

Are you excited for the new year?

I'm so excited for this year! 2023 was a wild ride. I was so busy, life was crazy. I experienced so much more than I thought I would! I went to my first rock concert, traveled to fun places for work and fun, and even went to Disneyland! But the best thing, was I even found love! However, given all that, being so much busier than even I expected, unfortunately, my reading and blogging fell to the wayside.

I truly felt awful about it. I've missed blogging, reading, and journaling. In all honesty, I feel like part of how badly I fell off the reading track was partially due to being burnt out as well as being so busy. Not only did a lot change in my life, I had already been struggling to maintain an active status within Bookstagram. I was just so tired of jumping through all the hoops with the constantly changing algorithms and trends.

And my boyfriend has been so supportive of me trying to get back into the swing of things. He knows how much I love reading. So I've busted out my pens and washi tape again! I've got some fun reading trackers planned for 2024. I have a backlog of reviews to share and some more fun-filled book exchanges to host!

That leads me to my reading goals for 2024!

First ~ Read 50 books!

Last year I had tried for 100, but as I mentioned, life got away from me leaving me with only 47/100 books read. I think any amount of reading is still great. Am I sad about not reaching that goal? Well yeah, but it's okay! This year, I want to try and take the stress of reading away and just enjoy it again! So yeah, I have a smaller goal, and who knows, I might blow past it, but I just want to enjoy what I'm reading and have fun.

Second ~ Put my shelf first

This is a little play on my bookmark pictured above! Basically, I want to read more of my backlist. I feel like this is every bookworm's goal. To read more of the books they own instead of buying new books. Especially with how little I read last year, and I continuously got new books. I'm very behind in reading my backlist. I truly hope to change that this year!

Third ~ Remember my love for reading

Last year I put this as my third goal. Given how I fell off reading consistently, I don't think I did a good job. So I thought I should keep this here as a reminder that I started this blog for fun. So, once again, this goal is simpler, just to remember that I love reading and why I love it.

Did you set any reading goals for 2023?
