After a very big debate, I picked Carrie to be my favorite read of April. I had so many good reads but this book was such a quick read keeping me engaged throughout the whole story. It flowed so well. I finished this late last night and wow! What a read!
I'm actually really happy I read this after The Institute also by Stephen King. I personally think these two books exist within the same universe. There was a passage near the end of the book that I think Stephen King pulled from when writing The Institute. The idea of monitoring and testing children for TK and the question "would the American people allow a small pretty girl-child to be ripped from her parents..." I think this plays right into the concept of The Institute.

Overall, I very much enjoyed reading Carrie. Though I knew the majority of the major events that happened in this book (but I've never seen the movies) it didn't hinder the shock of the events. In a way, it helped, as each event was told from different perspectives. So I got to fully understand what was happening.
This one definitely earned a spot on my favorites shelf. It got under my skin. I wasn't scared like I was reading It or Pet Semetary but it was unnerving. I recommend this to anyone interested in thrillers or horrors and of course any SK fan!
